Sweetness!

We had a WONDERFUL Valentines day! Thanks to all the parents who sent in items for our ice cream social. We had a great time. We also loved filling our Valentine Mailboxes and sharing in all the splendidness the day had to offer!

Happy Heart Day

This week holds one of the loveliest days of the year, Valentines Day!!!

On Thursday we will have an ice cream social in our room to celebrate all of our lovely friends. Earlier this week your child brought home a paper requesting a specific ice cream topping. Please send this to school by Wednesday the 13th.

Student will also have the opportunity to exchange Valentines. I am including all of our friends names here in this post if they need them to complete their Valentines.

100 days smarter!!!

On Wednesday we celebrated our 100th day of school.

We wrote about what we would do if we had 100 dollars (this is one generous and savings oriented bunch of kids.) We also made 100 piece Fruit Loop necklaces, 100 Day crowns, colored and graphed a 100 piece topping pizza, made 100th day tail mix that had 100 pieces, shared our collection of 100 items from home, and had our pizza party to celebrate our class winning the Mr. Earl fundraiser!!!

It was one fun filled and amazing day! See pictures of all our fun!!!

Our first snow day!!!

Well, I hope everyone has enjoyed their snow day. Here in Horse Cave, it was more of an ice day!!!

Non-uniform day has been rescheduled for Monday. The cost is still $1.00.

This past week we finished our Winter MAP testing! I'm so proud of our kids. Some if them improved their score by as much as 22 points. You'll see your child's latest score on their progress reports. They go home on February 8th!

Winter Work!!!

We've had a great first full week back at it!! We've began our unit on Weather, we're practicing hard on our math facts and fact families, and we are reading up a storm!!!

We hope to avoid any illnesses that are going around. Make sure your child is practicing good hand washing and getting plenty of rest so that they can be at school each day!!!

Seven days and counting!!!

We only have seven school days left until the start of Winter Break!

Next week we will being our study of Christmas around the World. Students will travel to each first grade classroom to learn about different Holiday traditions from countries such as England, Mexico, Sweden, and Germany.

We also have special fun activities planned for the two days of school next week as well.

This week students made ornaments in our ornament rotation and they will be bringing them home this week as well!
